Using Projects#

MaterialsCommons organizes data in a hierarchical structure. Projects are at the top and hold related research. The project is where you will set access - ie who can access the project. You can have an unlimited number of projects.

Project Navigation/Actions#

All project actions and navigation can be found in the side navbar. Using the navbar gives you access to files, studies, samples and computations, project members, and other actions. The project navbar is always available as long as you are in a project.

Project Members#

A project can have an unlimited number of users. Membership can be modified at any time. Only users with a Materials Commons account can be added to a project.

Adding Members#

To add researchers to a project:

  • Click on “Project Members” in the navbar

  • Click “Add Users” to add additional users to your project

  • Click or search for user to add

  • Select whether to add as a member or an admin

    • Admin users can add other users to a project. They have no other special privileges

Removing Members#

  • Click on “Project Members” in the navbar

  • Click the trashcan icon to remove a user

Modifying Members#

You can modify a users privileges by changing them to an admin or a member:

  • Click on “Project Members” in the navbar

  • Click on “Make Member” to turn an admin into a normal user

  • Click on “Make Admin” to turn a normal user into an admin

Users will receive an email when they are added or removed from a project.
