Using Studies#

MaterialsCommons organizes data in a hierarchical structure. Projects are at the top and hold related research. Studies are subdivisions within a project that represent specific experiments, simulations or research phases. You can have an unlimited number of studies in a project.

Studies and Spreadsheets#

Studies are a way to further organize your research data in a project. A study can have a spreadsheet associated with it. Using Spreadsheets For Data let you capture processing/workflow steps, the samples/computations associated with them, and relevant metadata.

Loading a spreadsheet into a study is currently the only way to load this data into your project. You can load a spreadsheet at the time you create the study, or after you’ve created the study.

Note

As mentioned you can always associate a spreadsheet with your study at a later time.

Note

You can reload the spreadsheet after you’ve made changes. This can be done as often as needed. You don’t need to have all the metadata and processing steps completed at the time you load the spreadsheet.
